Today, for those rooms in a home that have a more traditional look and feel to them, installation of antique light fixtures must be considered. Although there are many modern lights around that look antique, you will soon discover that they don’t have the same feel as the real kinds.
Although most antique light fixtures today were designed to be used with candles or gas, you can in fact find plenty of places which are more than willing to convert them to allow you to use them with modern light bulbs. However, opting to use the same lights as they were originally designed can help to produce a much warmer and inviting atmosphere in the room where you have them installed.
I like antique lighting fixtures and you’re right, it does give a room a warmer atmosphere. I like entertaining friends in my living room and the antique lighting fixture installed there is always a conversation piece.
I bought a 100 year old house recently and have retained the antique lighting fixtures in the rooms. I have to ask someone to give them a little tweak so I can use the light bulbs available today. They do give the rooms a certain “character”.
