When choosing binoculars for birding, you should consider a few things. First of all, what type of birds are you going to be watching? If they can be approached upclose, within a few hundred feet, you can go with a lower power which will save you hundreds if not thousands of dollars. However, if you are going deep into the woods, you will need to purchase high powered binoculars that will allow you to see them upclose. If you are going to bring your children, they may need to have their own pair. Depending upon their age, you may want to get a cheaper pair for each of them in case they are dropped and break.
