I wonder who was the young whipper snapper that originally dreamed up the concept of the motorized wheelchair? These new fangled gadgets are the bee’s knees if you ask me. Heck, I remember back in the old days when the only wheelchair around was one that you had to propel with your arms. It sure kept your arms in shape too. And it also kept your hands and fingers full of sores and your arms full of cramps. At least until your body got in shape using them. Nowadays I guess that us old geezers just let our muscles and body atrophy because we use all those motorized gadgets instead of the old manual labor wheelchair. We are all getting soft I guess.
I bet that someone who is confined to an old manual wheel chair has probably got some massive arm muscles and could probably put a regular person to their knees with a handshake… using their hands and arms all the time like that.
Right. And if a person really wanted to buy one of those old electric wheel chairs I am almost positive that all they would have to do is to go to Ebay and search for one there. That place has anything you could ever think of.
I believe that the electric wheel chair was the progenitor of the modern day mobility scooter. But I think that you can still find a few of those old type motorized wheel chairs at some of the older nursing homes and places like that.
I remember as a kid those visions of all those Vietnam veterans coming back to the states in wheelchairs. That one guy in particular, Bo Gritz I think his name is. Is he still alive? I think he ran for president or something didn’t he?
Yea I remember those games too. The basketball games are what I remember in particular. How those guys could propel their wheel chairs with their hands, stop on a dime, catch the ball and then shoot it in the basket was just amazing to me.
I remember when I was a kid they used to have those special Olympics for people in wheelchairs. At the time they only had manual wheelchairs and that was a lot of work for those people.
That last person is right. There are plenty of workout routines that you can find on the internet that are custom made for those people who have mobility issues. Just do a search for exercise routines or something like that.
Look old guy: you are just taking advantage of the new technology, there is nothing wrong with that is there? If you need to get some exercise, then go get some. You don’t just have to do workouts from that chair you’re in!
